Voodoo Fest 2009: Daily schedule and possible additions

As a live music obsessive, I often do somewhat unnecessary voodoo.jpgresearch to find out information that will eventually be presented to me in an organized, accessible and timely enough fashion. The following is an unfinished product of some of my work. Using various sources, I have put together a very early and nowhere near complete schedule for Voodoo Fest 2009.

As you may know, Voodoo Fest announced their initial lineup last week. The daily schedule however is usually not released until a month or two before the actual festival; all we have now is a list of names. Below is a day-by-day schedule of what I have found that we actually do know right now. First though, is an initial lineup divided by the distinct stage areas Voodoo has (Le Ritual, Le Flambeau and Le Carnival). Hopefully this can begin to help you decide which day or days you will be planning on attending The Voodoo Experience. At the very least, it should be an interesting and exciting Voodoo announcement that I will periodically update and post as I gather new information. Enjoy!

***IMPORTANT NOTE: This information is not speculation. There are sources for everything listed. That being said, all information is subject to change. Friday dates are the most tentative as bands will occasionally list the first day of a festival as a placeholder and may actually end up playing on a different day.

Finally, I will leave you with a very interesting list of possible lineup additions that have had credible rumors. I've put them in an order that I deem most likely to least likely added based on the band and the source of the rumor. None of these bands are truly confirmed to play Voodoo as of today, so take this for what it is. I will be the first to let you know of any major additions. Click the artist for the original source of the rumor.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

-         This link was mistakenly accessed from the Voodoo site in the days after the lineup announcement. Seems to me Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be there.

Kings of Leon

-         They had Voodoo Fest listed on their MySpace tour dates but are not listed on the lineup. Could they have dropped out before the lineup announcement and just haven't removed it from their MySpace? Seems odd. I think they're probably there.

Arctic Monkeys

-          The band was spotted on Voodoo's MySpace "New Friends" list. Voodoo has all of the 2009 artists on its friends list. The rumor isn't much, but they seem like a realistic addition.

Check back with Red Stick Live for the latest updates on Voodoo Fest as well as news, arts, and entertainment local to Baton Rouge.

This post is really informative and I love the color-coordinated stages. Crazy what websites can do if you fiddle with them...hose links are insane!

CAN'T WAIT FOR VOODOO...ESPECIALLY THE FLAMING LIPS!!!

I really don't think Metallica is playing. They mentioned in that post that they were sworn to secrecy and the announcement will be made in mid-July. It is much more likely that they will be playing Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit that weekend. Metallica have played it before and the lineup hasn't been announced yet.

I can't wait for Voodoo!!! Really a good lineup so far.

I'm going for one band, Jane's Addiciton. Any speculation on which day they are playing? As of Tuesday, June 7, they have been left off the groovy color-coded lists. They will be the headliner, I just don't know which day.

(er I meant as of Tuesday, JULY 7)

Lots of names but dates would have been nice. When????

justice as a dj set.....ruins my day

http://twitter.com/voodooexp2009...your schedule is a little off according to The Voodoo twitter page.

I saw that today. According to the Flaming Lips, they’re playing November 1. It's on their MySpace and Facebook.

Eminem may very well be playing Halloween. I had him listed on Saturday at first, but then he added Voodoo to his official website as October 30, so that’s what I have to go with. No speculating on my part. Artists do sometimes just list the first day of a fest though even if they are playing another day.

If FLips and Em are on Halloween as Twitter "may" imply, then that’s 6 of the top 9 (and 3 of top 5) bands playing on one night. That means three huge headliners making FLips and Em play in mostly daylight. I don’t see that happening. They could be mistaken. So could I.

I will say that if there wasn’t any scheduling info out at all, I would have picked FLips to play on Halloween with KISS after them.
